Ascension by John Coltrane

A redesign of John Coltrane’s album Ascension, this was a project for Floyd Hughes’ Visual Communication class. The portrait of Coltrane was created out of wire bent into sound waves that were generated by running Ascension through a spectrum analyzer. In addition to being used in the album art, the portrait was also placed on t-shirts.
